White Noise, The Edge

In 2010 the State Library of Queensland opened a brand-new facility called the Edge, a creative space with state-of-the-art technologies that members of the public could use. The Edge offered Musicadium the space for an entire week to create and execute the space’s first official event. Past and present interns at Musicadium were asked to devise and implement the event from the drawing board to execution. The result was White Noise, a series of free workshops for budding young musicians that would help them break into the industry. Sessions included Songwriting, Marketing, Getting a Record Deal, Festivals and Legal Issues. The week culminated in a free, all-ages showcase featuring Sietta, the Belligerents and Dane Tucquet.

My role in the events management team was the Marketing and Co-ordinations co-ordinator. In this position I wrote and published press releases calling out for artists, contacted blogs, street press and newspapers regarding publicity, as well as managing social media channels such as Facebook and Twitter. The result was a swathe of applications for the workshops and a well-attended showcase.
